<授業の目的>
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of academic essay writing. Through a structured approach, students will develop their writing skills by studying various essay types and analyzing key linguistic features.

For each topic, students will:
1. Gain an understanding of the main principles of the essay type.
2. Read and analyze six short essays to expand their vocabulary, learn transitional expressions, and study sentence structures.
3. Apply this knowledge to compose their own essays.

Students will receive constructive feedback from both the instructor and their peers to refine their writing and enhance their academic communication skills.

<成績評価の方法>
目標No割合評価の観点
130%Students will write essays on social and global issues. Grading will focus on clarity of ideas, relevance to the topic, and depth of analysis.
240%This includes grammar, structure, transitions, and argument development. Students will be assessed through essays, quizzes, and writing exercises.
330%Students will demonstrate improvement in writing through self-editing and peer review. Participation in feedback sessions and revised drafts will be graded.

<授業の方法>
This course introduces students to academic essay writing through structured learning and practice. Each of the six topics is covered over two weeks: the first week focuses on key concepts, and the second week on essay writing. Students will analyze short essays to expand vocabulary, study transitions, and refine sentence structures. They will receive feedback from both the instructor and peers. A Mid-term Exam and a Final Exam will assess students' progress.

Important Information:
-This course will be conducted entirely in English, and students are required to use English for both in-class participation and online communication.
-Students must bring a laptop or tablet to every class session.
-All assignments and essays must be submitted via Moodle for evaluation and feedback.
-For consultations outside of class, the instructor is available in their office (Y-304) on Tuesdays during the third period.

Students will complete essay assignments during class time, rather than at home, to prevent the use of AI tools, ensure the originality of their work, and facilitate the completion of the task within a 90-minute time frame.
