<授業の目的>
By the end of the course, students will both reflect on their own cultures and gain an understanding of other cultures through interaction with classmates. Through this interaction, students will be able to recognise the limits of their own cultural frames and will be exposed to diverse systems of value and logic.

<授業の方法>
本科目は、原則的に英語を媒介語とし、毎週Onlineでの講義とグループディスカッションを含むライブ型の授業に加えて、MoodleやCNSで課題を提示し、翌週の火曜日23:59までに提出いただく形で補完しながら進めていきます。英語でのコミュニケーションができる運用能力が必要とされます。
In principle, this course will be delivered online by means of interactive lectures with student-led discussions in English. The weekly interactive lectures conducted by 6 lecturers in an omnibus format will introduce the key topics for discussion and provide the context for theoretical models and key terms of study. These sessions will establish the broad principles, concepts and definitions as the basis for further discussions and short presentations. Students will submit weekly reflection papers or reports on Moodle system in principle, by 23:59 on the following Tuesday. Students will be expected to have the language skills to communicate in English.
<受講に際して・学生へのメッセージ>
1. In order to attend online classes, students need to prepare the equipment including PC/Tablet, headset or earphones with microphone, webcam and stable internet connection.
2. Students are encouraged to engage with self-monitoring and critical thinking in preparation for the assessment.
3. Students are expected to participate actively in class activities, to keep a written reflection papers or reports and to carry out independent reading and research in addition to classroom-based learning. Attendance is absolutely critical to meeting the overall objective of the course.
4. We can all learn from each other and even teach each other, through our own experiences and reflections about culture in various communication contexts. Therefore, the discussions can be a great leaning experience, if everyone in the class gets into them. Respect for every student's experience and opinion will be expected.

授業内容Guidance on the purpose and outline of the course, the assignment and confirmation of the schedule, as well as ice-breaking activities including self-introductions. After that, we will watch a short documentary and consider the concept of identity and culture in the current era of multicultural conviviality.

授業内容We will watch several video clips on Japanese culture together and engage in multiple conversations in English in pairs or groups with international and Japanese students about the content of the clips. At the end of the class, students are asked to submit a report reflecting on the class content based on the video clips and conversations in English.

授業内容More people now live outside their native culture for work, study, or other reasons. They connect with different cultures but don’t fully belong to one. This mix creates a unique "Third Culture." In this unit, we will explore Third Culture individuals―their challenges and strengths―mainly through a short movie.

授業内容We will explore Japan's global image (culture, society, politics) through news and articles. We will then identify gaps between Japanese and international perceptions, understand the reasons for these differences (including cultural context), and recognize the diversity of opinions.

1. We will make sure that subject content is understood and if requested, add explanations in Japanese, if possible.
2. The deadline for weekly submissions differed from week to week, so we will adjust it to be the same, 23:59 on the following Tuesday.
3. We will create an environment in which both Japanese and international students can actively participate in the discussions and they can ask questions to instructors.
4. We would like to remind participants to use a video camera to show their faces for better communication at the beginning of each class.
