＜授業の目的＞

The primary objective of this course is to equip students with the essential language learning skills required for successful academic study abroad at the tertiary level. This will be achieved primarily through lecture videos that explore a range of academic subjects. The course is specifically designed for students who intend to pursue higher education at colleges or universities overseas. Additionally, the curriculum will emphasize key academic skills necessary for success in international university settings, including listening, note-taking, and presentation skills.

＜授業の方法＞

The course will be conducted online and will cover 12 topics over the semester. Each topic will be addressed over two class sessions: the first session will introduce the topic, while the second session will assess students’ mastery through speaking activities and presentations. Mid-term and final examinations will take place at the midpoint and conclusion of the semester, respectively. Additionally, students will be required to complete regular assignments based on the Academic Word List, which will necessitate independent study outside of class time.
There is no prescribed textbook for this class. Students will be provided with study material at a level applicable to studying abroad.

For an introduction to the topic, students will be required to listen to short academic lectures on various subjects and to answer questions about content and intent. Students should be prepared to listen and speak English in each and every class as if studying in an English environment. Students should use class time well by participating positively and enthusiastically in the lessons. This means working with other students in pairs and groups. They should also prepare and review lessons thoroughly and be prepared for a quiz and presentation on each topic.

Important Information:
-This course meets twice per week.
-Instruction will be conducted in English, and students are expected to use English during lessons and for all online communication.
-As this course will be delivered online, students must ensure they have access to a reliable internet connection.
-All assignments and essays must be submitted via Moodle for grading and feedback.
-For consultation or feedback outside of class time, I am available in my office (Y-304) on Tuesdays during the third period.
