|To encourage students to think about and discuss issues connected to their future careers, as well as consider wider issues affecting Japan. Students will learn about, and practice giving opinions in English, as well as justifying their ideas and learning how to support and rebut views. They will also learn how to give effective presentations, whereby they can attempt to put forward their thoughts in a logical and structured way. Using as wide a range as possible of vocabulary and expressions will be encouraged throughout the course.|

Classes will be made up of teacher-led discussions as well as pair/group discussion. Students will have the chance to listen to and read various sources related to the issues being considered. Following discussion and consideration, students will be expected to do further research in their own time and then give short (5 minute) presentations on the topic. These presentations will be followed by Q&A and teacher feedback.
Until such time as we return to the classroom, classes will be conducted online using a mixture of Moodle and Zoom/MS Teams. Assignments and coursework will be on Moodle, and Discussion sessions will be on Zoom/MS Teams. When it is deemed safe to return to the classroom, social distancing and appropriate ventilation of the classroom will be observed
