＜対象学生＞
学部留学生（提携大学からの交換留学生も含む）対象 This course is for international students including exchange students from affiliated universities.
＜授業の目的および概要＞
授業の目的 １．日常生活や大学生活に必要な日本語のコミュニケーションがとることができる。 ２．身近な話題について、5分ほどの簡単なスピーチができる。 Upon successful completion of the course, students will: １．become able to communicate in Japanese in areas of immediate need； ２．become able to make a five minute speech on familiar topics.
＜授業の方法＞
教科書を使いながら、初級文法や語い、表現を学び、話す練習、聞く練習を通してコミュニケーション力をつける。 Following the textbook, basic grammar, vocabulary and expressions will be learned for interacting with other people. The focus is on practical communication through speaking and listening activities.
＜成績評価の方法＞
１． 平常点（出席、授業での参加度、小テスト、宿題）40 % ２． スピーチ、及び期末試験　　　　　　　 　　　60 % Final evaluation will be given for: 1. Attendance, class participation, small tests and homework (40% of overall mark); 2. A five minute speech and a final test (60% of overall mark).
＜受講に際して・学生へのメッセージ＞
受講希望者は、プレイスメント・テストを受けてください。 All students who wish to attend the course must take the Placement Test at the beginning of April. 語学は積み重ねです。全出席を目指してください。 Successful language learning can be achieved through a cumulative process. For this reason, consistent attendance at classes is of vital importance.
