＜授業の目的および概要＞
This class will focus on improving the students' listening and speaking ability on topics related to American culture. Specifically, the students will be introduced to pronunciation patterns of sound blending and reductions. Students will be required to both produce and understand the sound patterns of standard American English. Topics to be covered will include work, guns, health, dating, food, family, money, gender roles, music and shoplifting.
＜授業の方法＞
Each class will begin with a short discussion to introduce the topic. Then, the new content and sound pattern will be introduced through a listening exercise. Students will practice the sounds through shadowing and repeating exercises. There will also be a listening comprehension exercise, and finally the students will produce the sound patterns in a controlled conversation with a partner.

Attendance is the most important part of this class. Students who miss more than three classes will not be allowed to take the final exam, and thus fail the class. Students who are more than 10 minutes late will be absent and not allowed to enter the class. The door will be locked.
