＜授業の目的および概要＞
多少高度ではある英文を読み解いて、読み方のコツを学びつつ、同時に文化史的な視点からヨーロッパ社会の変遷をながめてみる。
＜授業の方法＞
演習形式で行う。文化史、社会史から興味ある話題に関して短い英文を読み、そこに使われた用語等から文化のもつ歴史に触れる。教科書の題材に関して自分の意見、あるいは調べた結果を英語（一分以内）で発表してもらう。
＜成績評価の方法＞
出席、発表、小テスト、定期試験の結果を総合して判断する。

授業時間に辞書等を調べてもらうので、かならず自分用の辞書を持参すること。
