<授業の目的>
In this course, students will be introduced to the basic principles of academic essay writing. For each topic, students will study six short essays to identify key vocabulary, transition devices, and sentence structures before using the new language to write an essay of their own. There will be opportunities to peer-review student-generated essays.

<授業の方法>
Classes will be conducted face-to-face and/or online as appropriate. There are six topics to study for the semester. Each topic will be covered over two weeks. In the first week, students will study the basic principles; and in the second week, students will write an essay based on the principles. Mid-term and Final Exams will be conducted in the middle and the end of the semester. There will also be a group project for which students will have to work in groups outside class time.

PLEASE NOTE:
-This class will be taught in English, and students will be expected to use English in the classroom and for online communication.
-Students should be prepared to bring a laptop computer/iPad for each class.
-All assignments and essays will be submitted via Moodle for grading and feedback.
-For consultation/feedback outside class time, the teacher is available in his office (Y-304) on Tuesdays, period 3.
