[Cross-cultural understanding and English literacy] Students will discuss topics in class. Students will make presentations and do writing assignments. Students will do listening exercises. |

There will be two classes each week. NOTE: this is an English language class which means interaction (speaking and listening) in pairs and groups will take place every class! Be prepared to ask/answer questions and discuss things with other students--IN ENGLISH. | |||||||||||||||||||

Week 1: Introduction and ice-breaker activities Week 2: Newspaper article: Japanese Culture Week 3: Quiz on above story. Pre-reading Benny Hinn Story Week 4: Watch video on Benny Hinn. Class Discussion. Week 5: Short Story: The Mirror Part I Week 6: Writing Assignment Week 7: Short Story: The Mirror Part II Week 8: Quiz on the above. Pre-reading Secret Life of Walter Mitty Week 9: Writing Assignment Week 10: Walter Mitty video: Part I, questions and discussion. Week 11: Walter Mitty video: Part I review, Part II, questions discussion Week 12: Short Story: Something Funny--Questions and discussion Week 13: Quiz on the above story. Pre-reading Ghost story on Airplane Week 14: Short Story: Ghost on Airplane Week 15: Final Test NOTE: The above reading articles are subject to change according to current events and students'' English proficiency. |
