In this course, students will develop their academic listening, note-taking, and speaking skills through study and discussion of English lectures on a broad range of topics and presenting their ideas through poster-presentation and panel discussions. Additionally, students will master the Academic Word List.
Comprehend five- to ten-minute lectures in English.
Understand the structure of different lecture types (chronology, process, & classification/definition).
Take notes of sufficient detail to answer basic comprehension questions about the lecture.
Ask and answer simple questions about the lecture.
Write one-paragraph-long lecture summaries based on lecture notes.
Express oneself through presentation and panel discussions.
Answer vocabulary questions from the Academic Word List.
<授業の方法>
Activities will include listening to lectures in class, taking structured notes, asking and answering questions, and writing summaries. In addition, there will be unit tests and Academic Word quizzes.
