<授業の目的および概要>
The primary aim of this course is to increase the students' ability in all the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and to make the students feel confident about using English in a variety of situations. Students will read and listen to passages in English relating to everyday topics and then talk about the content of the listening and reading passages using their own words. Attention will be paid to the logical expression of ideas and clear and correct pronunciation.

1能力と技能The students will acquire the ability to listen to, read and understand passages on a variety of everyday topics The students will then discuss the content of the passage and express the main ideas of the passage in their own words. The students will learn how to formulate their ideas clearly and logically and to express themselves confidently in spoken and written English.
<授業の方法>
Passages will be read or listened to in each class. Before reading or listening, the main theme of the article and background information will be presented and an explanation will be given of some of the vocabulary necessary for understanding the passage. Introductory questions will be asked and answered. Advice will be given about how to recognize the essential points of the content of each passage and how to express ideas and opinions about the passage clearly and logically.
