The primary aim of this class is to increase the students' ability in reading and writing. Through intensive reading of passages in English relating to variety of topics, the students concentrate on examining grammatical structures, vocabulary and idioms. After discussing the content of the
The students will read passages of around 600 words in about thirty minutes. Then the content of the passages will be discussed and exercises relating to the content, vocabulary and idioms of the passage will be done.

A passage will be read in class. Before reading, the main topic of the article and background information will be presented and an explanation will be given of some of the vocabulary necessary for understanding the passage. Questions will be asked and answered as the passage is being read. Advice will be given about how to recognize the essential points of the content

In addition to the class work referred to above, students may be asked to keep a short journal in English about recent events. The journal will be handed in to the teacher and returned corrected at a later date.<BR>Students should use class time well by participating positively and enthusiastically in the lessons.
