<授業の目的および概要>
The aim of this class is to improve the students' ability to communicate successfully and confidently in English through intensive study by using a variety of interesting materials to present and consolidate all the skills necessary for such communication (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
<到達目標>
The goal is for the students to improve their English ability and overcome fears and inhibitions about speaking English, enabling them to express themselves effectively and with confidence in a variety of everyday situations.
<授業の方法>
There will be three classes every week during the first semester. The classes will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The classes on Mondays and Fridays will be given by G. Allen. The classes on Wednesday will be given by P. Klousia<BR>A textbook will be used dealing with all the skills mentioned above, which will be supplemented with printed handouts aimed at expanding vocabulary and idioms and with additional exercises for improving listening and conversational ability.<BR>The students will read and listen to stories, short conversations and music.

<受講に際して・学生へのメッセージ>
In addition to the class work referred to above, students may be asked to keep a journal in English of important or interesting events that happened during the previous week and be prepared to speak about them in class if called upon to do so. The journal will be handed in to the teacher and returned corrected to the student at a later date.<BR>Students should use class time well by participating positively and enthusiastically in the lesson. They should arrive at class in good time. They should prepare and review lessons thoroughly. If all the work done in class is carefully reviewed, the final examination will be no problem.
