<授業の目的および概要>
The aim of this class is to teach the techniques of reading and writing, making students aware of the basic principles of grammar and vocabulary. Using texts dealing with everyday topics such as modern society, science, foreign culture, etc. the students will familiarize themselves with the reading techniques and learn how to express themselves in English by writing compositions.
<到達目標>
The goal is for students to be able to read a text of around 400 to 600 words in about 30 minutes, to understand it, extract the important points from it and write a summary of it in about 200 to 300 words in about 30 minutes, having learned the process of writing compositions in English.
<授業の方法>
As regards reading, an article will be read in each class. Before reading, the main theme of the article and background information will be presented and an explanation will be given of vocabulary necessary for understanding the article. Introductory questions will be asked, which will be answered as the text is being read. Advice will be given about how to recognize and formulate the important points. As regards the process of writing compositions, the students will learn how to formulated their ideas logically and express them in clear accurate English.

Students should use class time well by participating positively in the lesson. They should also prepare and review lessons well.<BR>If all the work done in class is carefully reviewed, the final examination will be no problem.
